Service Dog Priority Program
For families looking for an exceptional Golden with a future in service work.
At Golden Meadow Ranch, we intentionally breed for the qualities that make Golden Retrievers exceptional working partners—stable temperaments, confidence, intelligence, sound structure, and a genuine desire to work alongside their family.
Because these qualities are a priority in our breeding program, every Golden Meadow Ranch litter is thoughtfully raised and bred with the potential for service work in mind.
Our Service Dog Priority List is designed specifically for families who are pursuing a service-dog path and want priority access to our upcoming litters.
More Information
-
Our Service Dog Priority Program is designed to give families pursuing a genuine service-dog partnership an opportunity for Premium Puppy Picks—not to create a system where families can simply pay more to move ahead of others.
We believe priority should reflect purpose and commitment, not purchasing power.
Families join our Master Wait List based on the date their deposit is received. Once a litter is born and the puppies have had approximately 1–2 weeks to develop, thrive, and establish their individual temperaments, we begin the selection process.
Families accepted into our Service Dog Priority Program receive the first opportunity to purchase available Premium Pick positions before we continue through the general Master Wait List.
Depending on the size and makeup of a litter, Premium Picks may include first pick, second pick, and, when appropriate, additional early-pick positions. These opportunities are offered to qualifying Service Dog Priority families in the order established by our waitlist.
A Premium Pick is an additional investment for an earlier selection position. The opportunity to move ahead of another family is based on a family’s commitment to pursuing service work—not simply their willingness to pay more.
If a qualifying service-dog family chooses not to purchase an available Premium Pick, they do not lose their place on the Master Wait List. The opportunity will then move through our established selection process rather than being offered to a later family simply because they are willing to pay more.
Our goal is to create a system that honors the families who have patiently waited for their Golden while also giving meaningful priority to those intentionally pursuing a future working partnership.
-
Families who purchase a Premium Pick through our Service Dog Priority Program receive an earlier opportunity to select their puppy within the litter.
This allows us to work closely with your family to identify the puppy whose developing temperament, strengths, and personality may be the best fit for your specific needs, goals, lifestyle, and future working partnership.
Every puppy is an individual, and we believe each Golden Meadow Ranch puppy has the potential to become an exceptional service-dog partner with the right foundation, attention, patience, training, and support.
As our puppies develop, we carefully observe and evaluate characteristics such as temperament, confidence, environmental resilience, engagement, trainability, structure, and overall personality. We follow the BADASS Breeder curriculum, including its puppy temperament evaluations and scoring system, alongside the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test, to help us better understand each puppy as an individual.
These evaluations, along with our continued observations throughout the puppies’ early development, help us make thoughtful recommendations and guide families toward the puppy whose developing qualities may best complement their future goals.
Our goal is not simply to place a puppy, but to help create the foundation for a successful working partnership that can grow for years to come.

-
Our responsibility doesn’t end when you take your puppy home.
We want to build a lasting relationship with our service-dog families and stay connected as their puppies grow, develop, and progress through training. Following their journeys allows us to celebrate their successes, learn from their experiences, and continue growing our breeding and puppy-raising program for future service-dog prospects.
We believe the best service-dog prospects begin with the right foundation—and that foundation starts with thoughtful breeding, intentional early development, careful puppy matching, and a strong partnership with your training team.
